Festival organizer Terri Lukacko gives a speech at the Black Creek potluck
Terri holds forth at the Saturday evening potluck

This year, our fearless favorite festival organizer Terri Lukačko stepped down and handed over the reins to a new crew. We are all so very grateful to Terri for her hard work and dedication over these years of running Black Creek, even making the festival happen online for two years during the pandemic.

During her celebratory speech, Terri urged festival-goers to respond with an enthusiastic YES! when the call for volunteers lands in their inbox. Read about Terri here.

Thanks for a great festival 2022!

2022 Workshops & Community Jams

WORKSHOPS (Saturday)

11am–12pm BANJO WORKSHOP (in the Barn)
How to Play a Clawhammer Waltz with Tim Rowell. We’ll explore different ways to bring out that magical, flowing waltz timing – left-hand & right-hand techniques that highlight and create beautiful phrasing.

1–2pm GUITAR WORKSHOP (in the Barn)
Bass Runs Ups and Downs
with Erica Weiss – Tools for crafting a bass line, including 2-3-note runs between chords, using “alternate alternates” for a simple pleasing line, “running in place” on one chord, and more. We’ll explore how to find and choose notes, time the runs, and build bass lines for commonly known tunes in different keys.
